a win is a win??

SAN DIEGO - After a night in the Gaslamp, I had trouble staying…..zzzz…..<yawn>……awake for this game. What a boring 1st Qtr with neither team scoring. That’s no surprise for the Chargers who have not scored a TD on an opening drive in the last 19games (only 2nd to powerhouse Cleveland). Miami did look strong on their first drive, running plays at will against a weakened Chargers defense until a bad handoff resulted in a fumble out of the end-zone and gave the Chargers the ball.
Much of the same-old-$hit in the 2nd Qtr with the Chargers again failing to score a TD in the RedZone and settling for a 25-yd Kaeding FG while the Dolphins returned the favor with a 24-yd FG a few minutes later. With seconds to go before halftime, Kaeding had a chance to add to a whopping lead but missed from 41-yds (He’s probably not used to kicking out of the RedZone!)
Media Alert! The Chargers actually scored a TD in the RedZone in the 3rd Qtr when QB Philip Rivers scampered 5-yds into the endzone. However, they reverted back to their ways in the 4th Qtr again settling for 2 Kaeding FGs (both < 30yds).
Safety Eric Weddle’s 31-yd interception & return for a TD basically decided the game in spite of Miami RB Ricky (“Ganja-man”) Williams’ TD run late in the 4th Qtr.
In spite of the win, the Chargers “negatives” outweighed the “positives.” Yes, Philip Rivers ran for a TD and threw for over 300 yds with 100 of those being caught by WR Vincent Jackson. But again, the Chargers settled for 3 FG of 30-yds or less and had a non-existent running game. $hit, wadda ya expect from a dude that’s 5’6” and 160lbs soaking wet? Yes, the Chargers will make the playoffs but if things don’t change they won’t be playing on Feb 7th 2010 in Dolphin Stadium!
I don’t give a $hit about glass ½ full or glass ½ empty! Just drink the damn beer and show more Charger girls to at least make the game exciting!
